It’s hard to beat the view at a restaurant sitting right on the water. Like, it’s not even one of those places near the water like Mama’s Fish House—Mala Ocean Tavern is right there. If you don’t like your food for some reason, you could throw it right in the ocean. But you won’t. Not when the food is this delicious.

Every resort in Maui has a restaurant. Some of them are pretty ok, usually making up for middling food with breathtaking views and efficient service. But Kō, at the Fairmont Kea Lani, is one of those resort restaurants that pushes your vacation over the top. A place where you can get A++ textbook Hawaiian food (plus some world flavors), mostly all sourced locally, in a sexy, modern package.

Mama’s Fish House is one of those places that seems like it’s been there forever. It’s not trendy, nor is it old school (ok, it’s slightly old school)—it’s just a place with some of the freshest, most well-prepared fish you’ll find anywhere and an assortment of other goodies that’ll please just about anyone.
