Taco Boys Is Taking Over Phoenix

5 Yumpoints | Tied for #45 in Phoenix | Tied for #14 in Downtown | Tied for #12 in the East Valley

Honestly, what Taco Boys is doing in Phoenix might be the most exciting thing going on here. I remember in the 2016 Trump campaign there was some sort of threat that there would be a taco stand on every corner, and I thought, “That sounds kind of perfect.” Now in Phoenix we do have our fair share of ‘Bertos-style places, and I guess they’re fine, but what I want is a good-ass taco shop, right by my house. But no one seems ambitious enough to really take this place over. Tacos Chiwas was my best bet, but they seem to have ambitions in finer dining—which is also awesome—so the expansion seems slow. Taco Boys though… they’re on their 6th location and I hope they never stop. Every neighborhood needs a Taco Boys location. Mine needs two.

Obviously, if you’re craving a taco in The Valley, you have plenty of options. Trying to narrow it down is like trying to choose your favorite taco (impossible) but if you happen to be by Taco Boys’ Roosevelt or Tempe locations, you should absolutely stop in.

Phoenix Magazine: Four Corners: Spring Globetrotting

Looking for lunch in the area of Seventh and Roosevelt streets? Skip Jimmy John’s and duck into the taco shop on the other side of the building. If you don’t believe me, roll down your window. The meaty aroma emitting from the charcoal grill inside will pull you into a parking spot fast. And your nose doesn’t lie: The Boy makes some righteous tacos.

Apple Maps Hyperlocal: Rene Andrade’s Phoenix Spots

This is a cool spot with tacos from Sonora. I go there for lunch or a quick bite and get the taco de barbacoa or a vampiro. I grew up eating vampiros—it’s like the crunch of a tostada with your cheese and meat on top—and my preference is carne asada. It’s like a memory for me.
